Department of Mathematics

Department of Mathematics was found more than 50 years ago and has been developed continuously. With great facilities and excellent teaching and research, our principal aim is to train our students to become professional mathematicians and statisticians to pursue problems mathematically and statistically and to undertake research in various fields under the department’s concept “communicate internationally, discover new body of knowledge, concern and care colleagues, integrate knowledge and maintain virtue.” Currently, we have 7 academic programs within the department; B.Sc. in Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science and Analytics; M.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics; Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics. All graduates can work in the government sector, as entrepreneur or within private companies in corresponding to fields of their study: Mathematics (teacher, financial planner, actuary etc.), Statistics (statistician, biostatistician, educator, quality control officer, medical record auditor in hospital etc.), Data Science and Analytics (data scientist, data engineer, system planner etc.).  All postgraduates of our department can work at any education related workplaces, research institute and other institutes in the position which needs high level skills and knowledge e.g. lecturer in university, teacher for students in special program, data analyst, statistician and researcher in wide range of fields.

          Research in our department is undertaken in a broad range of areas of mathematical sciences including pure and applied mathematics, statistics as well as data science. With strong and competent research groups and a close collaboration with many high standard universities and organization across Thailand and worldwide, we publish a number of research works in high-quality international journals every year in fields ranging from Analysis, Algebra, Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Our outstanding areas cover optimization, algebraic coding theory, matrix theory, algebraic semigroup theory, differential equation, mathematical model, numerical analysis, biostatistics and data science. With no barrier between pure and applied mathematics and statistics, our strong interdisciplinary links enable a dynamic, creative and productive environment which becomes our key feature of our research culture.
