Final year undergraduate computer science student, Pichasamon Phairod, is currently undertaking an internship for 3 months at Department of Software and Computer Engineering, Ajou University in South Korea. Her project is developing new machine learning models for audio detection of vehicles in the forest, which is an exciting collaboration with the LAMDA Lab led by Dr. Kyungah Soh (Ajou University), co-supervised by Dr. Teemu H. Laine (LuleƄ University of Technology, Sweden) and Jungryul Seo (Ajou University). The models developed by Pichasamon will be deployed in forests and conservation areas to defend against illegal activity (such as deforestation and poaching) in collaboration with Rainforest Connection (a grantee of the Google AI Impact Challenge).
Pichasamon presented her latest results to members of the LAMDA lab and her visiting supervisor Antony Harfield on 4th February 2020. As part of Antony’s visit to Ajou University, he also gave a short talk on his research interests and discussed further opportunities for student exchanges with the LAMDA lab in the area of machine learning.
